About Us

We are three friends who are all parents to young children, experienced Clinical Psychologists, and we share a passion for working with parents-to-be and parents/carers to cover the benefits of mindful living, self-care and self-kindness, and living a life based on what is most important to you!  So please get in contact with us if you would like to find out more about us and what we could offer you...

Choosing to be a clinical psychologist, my aim was to listen to and understand the stories people tell me, and I am committed to working in a way which fosters hope and resilience in those I support. In particular, interested in what we need to help us to live meaningful lives, and how to ride the waves we encounter along the way.  There is no more interesting time than trying to keep your head above the water than becoming a parent – as I have found out myself in the last few years!  Following a few spells in hospital with my little one’s I realised more than ever the importance of self care and mindfulness.  This helped me to stay in the present moment, and develop a kind mind mamma mantra when all around appeared in chaos and made no sense.  This has stuck with me, and is one of the foundations in the Kind Mind approach.  Founded by parents for parents, we’re hoping to bring some of that psychological knowledge and mindful living to everyone out there as we try to work it out ourselves!

Although I’m not originally from the North East, I now consider myself a local. Newcastle is the city where I trained for the job I love, met my husband, and had two tiny humans. I am a Clinical Psychologist that has been working in the NHS for over 10 years.  I love my job and have always been motivated by supporting people who are finding things difficult. Although life gives us many moments of joy and happiness, there are also moments of great sadness, fear and anxiety. Clinical Psychology can help you to develop tools to manage the crap that life throws at you. I am proud to be one of The Kind Mind’s founding Mothers. When I was off work with my first baby I realised that there wasn’t much out there to support parents with the emotional impact of pregnancy, birth and beyond. I was surprised to find myself so anxious when a new baby was presented to me. I was responsible for caring for it, and ultimately trying to help it grow into a decent person. It felt like a daunting task! The Kind Mind aims to help parents to confidently navigate this tricky time, and parent in the way that fits best for their family. I am currently on maternity leave, but will be back when I’ve enjoyed some baby cuddles.

I am a Clinical Psychologist who has worked with children, young people, and families for a number of years in the NHS. It is a job I love and I have so much gratitude for the stories I am privileged to have been told and to have been part of; moments of overwhelming darkness and some of the sweetest moments of light. First and foremost in life, however, I am a mum to two lovely and energetic little boys, along with my husband. We spend a lot of time at the beach or in the park on great adventures (usually pirate, superhero or dinosaur related)! It is through my own quite difficult journey to becoming pregnant, the general overwhelmingness of new parenthood, and the ongoing challenge of trying to be the parent that I most want to be, that I felt I wanted to share some of the knowledge and skills I had found helpful, both personally and professionally, with others. Along with my fellow Kind Mind Mammas, Jen and Gill, I am committed to striving to be a mindful parent, guided by what I value most. And striving the hardest not to beat myself up and to keep my eye on the horizon on the days where I feel utterly mindless!! It is an ongoing journey that I wish to take with you, through The Kind Mind, together.
